چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: Metabolic syndrome (MS) is considered as an important risk factor for advanced coronary artery disease. This condition can increase the mortality and morbidity in the patients undergoing coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery. The aim of the study was compared mortality and morbidity after off Pump- CABG surgery between patients with and without the Metabolic syndrome. Materials & Methods: This prospective cross-sectional study was conducted on 120 patients, who underwent off-pump CABG surgery between October 2014-October 2016. The participants were equally divided into two groups including the patients with and without MS (MS and non-MS, respectively). Results: According to the results, 68 (56.6%) patients were male. Furthermore, out of the 60 participants with MS, 36 (60%) cases were male. The mean ages of the MS and non-MS groups were 64.96±9.6 and 65.62±10.6 P=0.6 years, respectively. No statistically significant difference was observed between the two groups in terms of the mortality and morbidity (e.g., surgical wound infection, length of Intensive Care Unit and hospital stay, atrial fibrillation rhythm, and bleeding in the first 24 h). The intubation time in patients with Metabolic Syndrome was significantly higher than patients without Metabolic Syndrome (6.66 ± 1.97 vs 5.83 ± 1.93 respectively; P=0.007) Conclusion: Metabolic syndrome was not associated with higher mortality and morbidity after CABG surgery compare to patients without Metabolic syndrome, although patients with Metabolic syndrome had higher risk for long intubation time.

Emergency Conversion from Off Pump to Cardiopulmonary Bypass in Patients with Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery

Introduction: As off pump Coronary artery bypass grafting surgery (CABG) is a developing method in coronary cardiac surgery, most surgeons are anxious about the danger of emergency crash conversion. In this observational study we tried to show the rate and outcome of conversion . Material and methods: In this descriptive study about 477 coronary off-pump CABG patients were operated in Ghaem hos...

Should we consider off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting in patients with acute coronary syndrome?

A best evidence topic in cardiac surgery was written according to a structured protocol. The question addressed was whether off-pump coronary artery bypass (OPCAB) grafting should be considered as an alternative to the conventional on-pump surgery (ONCAB) in patients presenting with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) requiring emergency revascularization. Eighty-two papers were identified by a syste...

Comparison of Treatment Outcomes in Off-pump Coronary Artery Bypass Graft and Medical Therapy in Patients with Triple-vessel Coronary Artery Disease and Severe Ventricular Dysfunction

Introduction: Heart failure is a major hazard for public health. Despite recent advance in medical therapy, there is not enough information on the outcome of off-pump coronary artery bypass (OPCAB) and medical therapy on the patients with severe ventricular dysfunction and triple-vessel (CAD). This study aimed to compare treatment outcomes and mortality rate in patients undergoing off-pump coro...

Off-pump versus on-pump coronary artery bypass grafting in acute coronary syndrome: a clinical analysis

BACKGROUND Although off-pump coronary artery bypass (OPCAB) surgery has many beneficial effects compared with on-pump surgery, switch to on-pump surgery has significantly higher risks of operative mortality. Benefits of OPCAB over on-pump surgery strategies concerning myocardial revascularization are still debatable. We have aimed to develop an "algorithm of off-pump surgical strategy" on preve...

On-Pump Beating Coronary Artery Bypass in High Risk Coronary Patients

Background: There are some conflicting results with Conventional Coronary Artery Bypass Grafts (CCABG) with arrested heart in coronary high-risk patients. Moreover, performing off-pump CABG in these cases may be associated with serious complications. The objective of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of the on-pump beating CABG (OPBCABG) in coronary high-risk patients in comparison with th...
